To encourage and support research and study to meet the scientific,
engineering and social challenges of human presence in space and the
establishment of human communities beyond Earth, The Apollo Society,
in collaboration with the Hawaii Space Grant Consortium, offers the
"The Apollo Society-Hawaii Space Grant Fellowship Award " to those
undergraduate students at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and
the University of Hawaii at Hilo who propose to do research and study
toward solving scientific, engineering or social problems related to
human presence in space. Special consideration will be given to
proposals for research on the establishment of human communities
beyond Earth.
Examples of appropriate research areas could include, but are not limited to;

The Apollo Society-Hawaii Space Grant Fellows are expected to work
between 10 and 15 hours per week toward the accomplishment of their
proposed research or study project.
The Apollo Society-Hawaii Space Grant Fellows will receive a stipend of
$3000 per semester and up to $500 for
travel/supplies.
(In previous semesters, travel funds have been used for activities
including observing runs at the Mauna Kea telescopes and for travel to
national meetings to present project results.)
The level of support provided to The Apollo Society-Hawaii Space Grant
Fellowship awardees is identical to that of a regular Hawaii Space Grant
Fellowship Award.
Applicants for
The Apollo Society-Hawaii Space Grant Fellowship Award
will also receive full consideration for a regular Hawaii Space Grant
Fellowship Award.
Awards will be based largely on academic qualifications and the quality
of proposed research or study. Applicants must also ensure that their
proposed research is feasible within the proposed academic time-frame.
Eligibility
Individuals eligible for The Apollo Society-Hawaii Space Grant Consortium
Fellowship Award are those who:

2) within their Undergraduate Space Grant Fellowship application, propose to
conduct research focused on solving the scientific, engineering
or social problems related to human presence in space.
All The Apollo Society-Hawaii Space Grant Consortium Fellowship
applicants must be sponsored by a University of Hawaii at Manoa or Hilo
faculty member willing to act as the student's mentor during the award period.
All The Apollo Society-Hawaii Space Grant Consortium Fellowship
awardees must agree to provide a summary of their completed research
for publication on The Apollo Society's web site.
